It should’ve been pretty straightforward: Either Toyota or Porsche was going to win the most prestigious endurance race in the world. All the two manufacturers had to do was decide amongst each other who was going to win it. But the endless search for superiority sent many of their cars over the edge and into retirement. With only an hour left, the battered and bruised number 2 Porsche 919 Hybrid made the world right again when Timo Bernhard overtook Ho-Pin Tung in the leading Jackie Chan DC Racing and went on to victory in the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans.
