Best of 2017: Julian Schmidt

2017 was a fantastic year for me. I spent no less than 90 days at different race tracks in Europa, from the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Spa and the Nürburgring, to the full ADAC GT Masters and VLN seasons, and then some. It was an awesome season with many cool moments. My biggest gratitude goes out to Tim Upietz of Gruppe C. Best of 2017: João Filipe

2017 was a good year for me, as I shot from Le Mans to Texas working for clients such as Sportscode and Adrenal, had fun with friends at Spa and the Nürburgring, and as always paid many visits to the race track in my home country of Portugal. These 25 are my favourite pictures of the year. Featured photo:  FIA World Touring Car Championship at Vila Real Canon EOS 5D Mk. Moritz Kranz, Pt.II: “Hopefully we can pick on the GT3s in the rain”

It’s a brave new world for Moritz Kranz. Having found a new home at Mühlner Motorsport this year, the German was crowned undisputed champion of the Porsche Cayman GT4 Trophy with a total of six race wins. 20 years of racing had brought him here, but it’s not yet the end of the line as he’ll take the next step in 2018 bringing the fight to VLN’s Porsche Carrera Cup class. Like any young German growing up in the 1990s, Moritz Kranz watched eagerly every Sunday afternoon to see Michael Schumacher steal the show in Formula 1. The legendary...

Moritz Kranz, Pt.I: “No one cares when you say you’re fast—now I can prove I am”

“I was fighting hard with the other Caymans—there was some pushing and shoving going on—and then there was a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car. He was blocking and doing stupid stuff in the braking zone and we made slight contact. It was all very hectic, with the battles and then the red flag. “When I got out of the car in the paddock I went over to ask what he was doing. As I walked away from his car, I realised: ‘Wait a minute… We are champions.’” Two massive accidents ended the seventh VLN race of the season before...
