This is it: the final race of the Blancpain GT Sprint Cup 2018 season is about to get underway. Pro-Am squad Black Falcon took the pole during yesterday’s qualification session, with Lucas Stolz hot-lapping the Mercedes-AMG GT3 shared with Hubert Haupt to a lap of 1:54.007. After their win yesterday—inherited from the penalised Grasser Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 of until then title contenders Mirko Bortolotti and Christian Engelhart—WRT Audi R8 LMS GT3 pilots Christopher Mies and Alex Riberas lead the championship with 90.5 points, 9 more than title chasers Raffaele Marciello and Michael Meadows in the AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG GT3. The AMG duo will start alongside brand compatriots Black Falcon on the front row, while Mies and Riberas will have to come from 14th after Mies’ brake problem resulting in a crash during qualification. The race will be on for Mies and Riberas: if they manage to push the Audi up to fourth, the title is theirs regardless of what Marciello and Meadows do.
Race 2 at 16:00 CET.
