As I am mostly shooting from spectator areas I always try to use my surroundings to my advantage. I am always looking for unique, colorful shots. In this case I panned though a group of spectators at Brünnchen using a slow shutter speed.

After the first VLN race of the season it got dark quite early. This Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR was placed almost perfectly in the spotlight allowing me to get one of my favorite shots of the year. Not often you get the opportunity to shoot one of these cars in dark, in an otherwise empty pit lane.

Spa-Francorshamps is probably one of the best tracks to get some cool images without media accreditation. Sitting in the grandstand overlooking the paddock area I went with a really slow shutter speed to create an abstract image of the GT3 cars pushing hard through the world famous Eau Rouge corner.

I had this shot in my mind for almost one year. After I completely messed up the sunset during the 2017 race, my whole afternoon was planned around this picture. Shooting through the catch fencing at the spectator area at Wipperman, I wanted to include the track as well as the characteristic trees of the Nordschleife. The sun came through the emerging clouds just at the right time, bathing the track in golden light.

This year I finally visited the Circuit de la Sarthe for the first time. I made the decision to do the 10-hour trip down to Le Mans as soon as Porsche announced their two retro livers during the official Test Day. Sleeping in my car for three days and driving nearly 2000 km was not easy, but seeing and hearing these two beasts running close to each other during the opening hours of the race was one of the coolest moments of the year and well worth the stress.
