The Blancpain GT pre-season test got underway this week at Circuit Paul Ricard. There are six brand-new models joining the line-up this year: the Aston Martin Vantage GT3, Audi R8 LMS EVO, Honda NSX GT3 Evo, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, McLaren 720S GT3 and Porsche 911 GT3R.
A total of 47 cars participated in the annual test with more than 30 teams making the journey to the South of France. With blue skies and sunshine over both days of the test it was near perfect conditions allowing for lots of running time with some teams putting in over 300 laps.
The fastest time of the test went to Marco Bonanomi who clocked a 1m52.765s in his Honda NSX GT3 right at the end of the test session on Thursday afternoon.
Bonanomi finished just ahead of the number 88 AKKA ASP Team Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Raffaele Marciello with a lap of 1m52.801s set on Thursday morning by the reigning Blancpain GT champion, followed by Black Falcon Mercedes-AMG GT3 pilot Maro Engel whose best time of 1m52.856s was posted late on Wednesday afternoon.
