After an up and down 2018 season, Michele Di Martino takes on another VLN season at the Nürburgring with Konrad Motorsport. With an upgraded Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo and a team now supported by Lamborghini, the young German has a lot to look forward to in his second year with the Franz Konrad-led team.

Although Konrad Motorsport was plagued by bad luck all throughout the 2018 VLN season, the team’s hard-fought third-place finish in VLN6 gave Michele Di Martino a glimmer of hope. With the Evo model entered for 2019 and increased Lamborghini Squadra Corse support, Di Martino decided he’s game for another year with the team from Verl.
“I wasn’t all too focused on motorsports during the winter,” Di Martino says.
“I’m still studying, so I’ve been pretty busy.
“There was the chance to again drive with Konrad and I took it.
“This year we have a new Lamborghini, the Evo edition, and hopefully we’ll have more luck with it than last season. It’s definitely a better car.”
Di Martino is hopeful he can leave the lackluster 2018 season behind and go for gold with his new team-mates. For VLN1, those are works drivers Marco Mapelli and Franck Perera.
“The performance was there last season. This year we will be with a new drivers line-up and a new car, so that’s all different from last year. The races up until the Nürburgring 24 Hours will be about focusing on how to bring the performance to the track, but I’m confident that we will get it done.
“I think the Lamborghini drivers are really good drivers in a championship like Blancpain GT, but they, too, have to prove themselves on the Nordschleife.
“If we all work together, good results will be possible.
“Lamborghini is focusing more on us this season and that for sure helps.”
