On Sunday 30 June, the idyllic Château de Chantilly near Paris was stage of the fifth edition of the Chantilly Concours d’Elegance by Peter Auto. The biyearly event held during odd-numbered years to alternate with the famous Le Mans Classic was a rare occasion to see racing beasts in an unusual setting. Held a fortnight after this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours, the 2019 edition brought a lot of endurance cars, among others, on the ‘Le Nôtre’ lawn of the manor.

The celebration of Porsche 917’s 50th birthday was one of the highlight of the event with the gathering of three iconic German cars. Even more spectacular, this was the first public appearance since many years of the road-legal 917-030 chassis–the only road-legal 917 in the world.

Furthermore, the history of British marques McLaren and Aston Martin were also celebrated with the reunion of many legendary cars such as Ayrton Senna’s 1988 record-breaking McLaren MP4/4 and the 1959 Le Mans-winning Aston Martin DBR1.
