WRT topped the charts in Friday practice for the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe at the Nürburgring. The #1 Audi R8 LMS GT3 squad of Dries Vanthoor and Ezequiel Pérez Companc was fasted in the second session of the day after the former went quickest with a time of 1:54.938. Zandvoort winners Saintéloc Racing ended the day second fastest with the #25 Audi of Christopher Haase (1:55.396) and Simon Gachet, while the #2 WRT Audi of Christopher Mies (1:55.449) and Charles Weerts rounded out the Audi-dominated top 3.

The #563 Orange1 FFF Racing Team Lamborghini Huracán GT3 of Andrea Caldarelli and Marco Mapelli was fastest in the first session. Mapelli’s 1:55.712 was only 0.062 seconds faster than the 1:55.774 set by Raffaele Marciello in the #88 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG GT3 he shares with Vincent Abril. Vanthoor and Pérez Companc finished the opening session in third (1:55.843).
Both sessions on Friday ran fairly clean, with the exception of a crash by the #62 R-Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in the morning. The car was out for the remainder of the day but is expected to be back for qualifying on Saturday morning.
Qualifying starts Saturday at 9:15 CET, with race 1 scheduled to start at 14:30 CET. Both races are live streamed on GT REPORT.
