After seven years away, former championship winning team Ebimotors is back in the premier class of the Italian GT Championship. The Porsche expert team – last to win the championship for the German brand in 2013 – is set to field a single Porsche 991.2 GT3R for the full eight-event season.
Paolo Venerosi and Alessandro Baccani are back with the team run by former Formula 1 chief mechanic Enrico Borghi, having previously raced for Ebimotors from 2015 through 2017. The Florentine drivers take on the sprint portion of the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo in the #44 Porsche, with youngster Riccardo Pera joining the pair for the endurance rounds.
20-year-old Pera entered motorsports in 2016 with Ebimotors immediately claiming a double Cayman Cup class victory in the Italian GT round at Imola on debut. He quickly rose to prominence as he won the Italian GT Championship’s Cayman Cup in his first season of racing. The Italian also successfully campaigned the Porsche 911 in both RSR and GT3R spec with Ebimotors in the European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Le Mans Cup while currently contesting the FIA World Endurance Championship with Dempsey-Proton.
The Italian GT Championship begins its season on 19 July with a three-hour race at Mugello Circuit for the Endurance Championship.
