Reigning Italian GT Sprint champion Riccardo Agostini joins Audi Sport Italia for his 2020 Italian GT Championship title defense while also setting his sights on the Endurance championship. The 26-year-old from Padua in Italy has been scooped up by the Audi team on the back of a successful 2019 season with Antonelli Motorsport in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 .
“I am excited to start my twentieth season in racing with an historic and important team such as Audi Sport Italia,” Riccardo Agostini commented. “I’m sure that we will have the potential and experience to aim for success. My goal is clearly to replicate the result of 2019, while also aiming for victory in the Endurance championship.”
Audi Sport Italia is yet to announce Agostini’s co-drivers for both championships.
“We are delighted to have Riccardo Agostini in our Audi in both championships in which we take part in 2020,” said team principle Emilio Radaelli. “He wants to establish himself as a successful driver and the team will do everything in our power to help him repeat last year’s result.”
The Italian GT Championship begins its season on 19 July with a three-hour race at Mugello Circuit for the Endurance Championship. The first sprint race weekend takes place on 1-2 August at Misano.
