The most notable absence from the final entry list is the #14 Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3. Its drivers – Michele Beretta, Jules Gounon and Kim-Luis Schramm – with the exception of Jamie Green have been moved to the team’s #5 Audi joining Frank Stippler at the expense of Mike Rockenfeller who ends up without a seat, while Richard Westbrook has joined Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus on the brand-new SCG004c. Vincent Kolb was already out due to an off-track injury.
Another absentee is Gabriele Piana. The Italian was originally scheduled to race at both the GT4 European Series in Zandvoort with RN Vision STS Racing and the Nürburgring 24 Hours with Mercedes-AMG Team HRT, however, will now only compete in the GT4 European Series. He is replaced on the #2 Mercedes-AMG by Philip Ellis.
Joining the field is Nico Menzel who last year competed the 24 Hours with KCMG aboard the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3. The local talent got a late call-up to join Lorenzo Rocco, Patrick Kolb and Marco Holzer on the #25 Huber Motorsport Porsche 991.2 GT3R replacing Wolf Henzler who was amongst the Porsche drivers instructed to sit the Nürburgring 24 Hours out.
UPDATE 25-9 15:01 CET: Robin Frijns is the latest driver to drop off the entry list. The driver of the #3 Audi Sport Team Car Collection has been ruled out of the weekend after contracting the flu. READ MORE.
Fellow Car Collection driver Miroslav Konopka is disqualified from taking part in the remainder of the weekend after having his licence cancelled for ignoring yellow flags in Thursday night’s qualifying session. The Slovakian was reported to have speeded into a double waved yellow flag zone at over 200 kilometre per hour. The #7 Car Collection Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3 will start without Konopka, from the pits and with a 3-minute stop-and-go penalty.
