The Intelligent Money British GT Championship has announced a largely unchanged calendar for 2021 with the only major change being a move for the Brands Hatch date. The season will consist of 9 races at 7 events and 6 different circuits with Spa Francorchamps returning as the away weekend.

The traditional Easter weekend at Oulton Park kicks off proceedings with two one hour races on bank holiday Monday.

At the end of April the format is repeated at Snetterton followed a month later by a 2 hour race  at Brands Hatch.

The blue riband Silverstone 500 three hour race has been pushed back two weeks to avoid a clash with Le Mans and will take place on the final weekend of June.

The first of two visits to Donington Park occurs in July followed two weeks later by Spa Francorchamps which itself will be held one week before the Spa 24 hours.

There is then an extended summer break of 7 weeks to the final race at Donington Park.

In 2021 driver line-ups comprising two FIA Silver-graded drivers will no longer be permitted to race in British GT3. Instead, a Silver-Am class – first trialled in 2016 – will be added to the existing Pro-Am and Am-Am classifications.

Variables within the FIA’s grading criteria mean not all Silver drivers automatically qualify for British GT’s Silver-Am classification. Instead, the Silver element will typically comprise promising but less experienced young drivers, GT4 graduates or those likely to contribute some budget when paired with a Bronze-graded amateur.

Silver-Am entries will also score points towards British GT3’s Overall and Pro-Am championships where they can measure themselves against crews led by established Silver, Gold and Platinum-graded professionals or factory drivers.

A dedicated Silver-Am podium presentation will take place following each race, while further class-specific incentives are currently under review.

The classes within GT4 will remain unchanged.
