With 2020 and all of its challenges doing its best to halt proceedings, managing to shoot a number of events between July & November (and visiting two new circuits in the process) have been a huge relief. Not only this but joining the GT Report team in September topped off a great (albeit short) year of motorsport.

The first event post UK lockdown was the GT Cup meeting at Snetterton. An eclectic display of cars didn’t disappoint and the conditions were perfect.

The next major event came in the shape of the Masters Historic at Brands Hatch. My first trip to this legendary circuit, it didn’t disappoint with classics being pushed to the limit on the GP Circuit. The sheer atmosphere of the cars thundering through the forest was incredible, a truely old school circuit with plenty of character still left to give. Trying something slightly unusual, the greenery at the circuit made shots like these plentiful, I however wanted to backlight it, so paired with the setting sun I attempted exactly that.

Another new circuit, this time in the shape of Donington Park. Despite it’s greenery and sheer elevation changes the main point of interest was an old industrial shed. When the sun was setting it gave the slightest window for the sun to pass through, illuminating the cars whilst a dark atmospheric backdrop made them truely pop.

This weekend marked my commencement with the GT Report team and an event that will always stay in my memory as a result. A second consecutive week spent at Donington, this time for the British GT. Here I wished to obtain a start shot different to what everyone else would likely do. And much to my surprise, I was the only photographer at this location as 12 GT3 cars came hurtling down the Craner Curves.

A rather damp weekend at my local circuit. It was time for British GT Snetterton and whilst the lineup was rather different to media day in March, the action didn’t disappoint. Here I have carried out this shot numerous times but never before with spray. The McLaren 720s GT3 had by far the tallest rooster tails so I attempted to capture this with a slow shutter to show of the sheer speed of the car at the same time.

My final trip to Brands Hatch 2020 came courtesy of GT Cup once again. Another eclectic mix of cars saw this screaming Porsche and the mighty Nissan GT-R GT3 do battle through the forest. This particular shot was inspired by the Nordschleife. Seeing the trees line the track on either side made me want to incorporate this whilst still having a car to show off.

My final event of 2020 was my first of the year with media credentials. This shot was more being in the right place at the right time. I was hoping to catch someone run slightly wide onto the kerbs but running wide into a puddle after a huge downpour, I’ll take it.
