The WRC season starts tomorrow on the French Alps’ tricky roads and in the hinterland of Monaco. Before the rally, the region has seen an intense campaign of test days. Indeed, 2021 marks the return of Pirelli as the official WRC tyre manufacturer replacing Michelin. Starting from nearly a blank page, drivers and teams learned to adapt to the new tyres in the previous months with test days in the south of France.

Our gallery from last week’s test features Elfyn Evans and his co-driver Daniel Barritt as well as Kalle Rovanperä with Jonne Halttunen on the Toyota side. Ott Tänak  and Martin Järveoja were at the wheel of the Hyundai i20 WRC, as well as Thierry Neuville and  Nicolas Gilsoul. However, a few days after the test and one week before the start of the season, the Belgian duo surprisingly announced their separation after a ten-years collaboration. Thus, Martijn Wydaeghe comes in as the new navigator for Thierry Neuville at least for the opening round.
