The week before the VLN Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) pre-season test has been a quiet one, with not as much news as the weeks before. However, several interesting announcements were made.

News

➤  In addition to a Toyota GT Supra GT4, Ring Racing will also field a near-production Toyota GR Supra in the VT2 class. The goal of the entry is “particularly intended to demonstrate the performance of the production model.” The Supra will make its debut in the second race of the season with drivers still to be determined. 

➤  Mathilda Racing is moving up to the Cayman GT4 Trophy by Manthey Racing. Having entered first a Scirocco in 2011 and later also a SEAT León Cupra TCR, the team adds a Porsche Cayman GT4 to complete the 2021 season with in the Am class. The Porsche brings the number of cars raced by the Michael Paatz-owned team to three, with the Scirocco (VT2) and León (TCR or SP3T class) making a return.

➤  Schnitzelalm.de Racing is stepping into the realm of GT racing in its second year by brining two Mercedes-AMG GT4s for the SP10/GT4 class. Nürburgring 24 Hours GT4 class winners Marek Böckmann and Fidel Leib will join current BMW M240i Racing Cup champs Marcel Marchewicz and Tim Neuser, with an additional driver to be confirmed. At least one BMW M240i Racing Cup will also be back in 2021, to be driven by Carl-Friedrich Kolb, Christopher Brück and Michael Bräutigam. Click HERE for the full story.

➤  Michele Di Martino enters his fourth season with Konrad Motorsport. The German joins the earlier announced Axcil Jefferies aboard the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo. Preparations for the new season have been ongoing with the Franz Konrad-led squad having recently tested at Ascari Race Resort.

➤  Waldow Performance has presented the livery for its Alpine A110 GT4, and it’s a beauty. The local Renault tuner is taking its first steps in GT4 this year with Max Lamesch, Andreas Patzelt, Janis Waldow and Steve Jans piloting the French sports car.

➤  2019 VLN TCR class champions Frédéric Yerly and Matthias Wasel are teaming up with Max Kruse Racing. They will share the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR with Tom Coronel, Jasmin Preisig, Andreas Gülden and team co-owner Benjamin Leuchter. The team will announce the exact pairing of drivers — for NLS, DMV NES 500 and the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring — as soon as possible.

➤  Long-time Renault Clio III RS Cup driver Stephan Epp is leaving his Clio in Wuppertal this season as he joins the Team Avia Sorg Rennsport BMW G20 330i, raising the competition in the already competitive and crowded VT2 class. He joins his occasional 24H Series co-driver Björn Simon who has been a fixture with the Sorg brothers for years.
