Due to freezing temperatures forecast for the Nürburgring this weekend, VLN has cancelled the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) pre-season test. The ‘Probe- und Einstelltag’ was originally scheduled for Saturday 20 March.

VLN reiterates that the cancellation has nothing to do with the current COVID-19 pandemic.
“The combination of uncertainties currently speaks against the possibility of holding our pre-season test,” says Christian Stephani, managing director of VLN.
“The Nürburgring is currently wrapped in a thin layer of snow and it is questionable whether this will clear in the next days. In addition, temperatures as low as -8°C are forecast for the night from Friday to Saturday. Even the freezing point is only reached around noon.
“After consulting with various teams, we came to the conclusion to cancel the event early in order to save everyone an unnecessary journey. The safety aspect also plays a role: in sub-zero temperatures, the tires have a hard time reaching operating temperature and the brakes also cool down on the long Döttinger Höhe to the extent that it notably reduces the braking power.”
In preparation for the 2021 season, the teams have will have two sessions on the Friday before the season opener, the 66. ADAC Westfalenfahrt on 26-27 March. From 9:00 to 14:45 and from 15:00 to 18:00, the entire VLN variant of the Nürburgring will be used.
