Former Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica is set to make his Nordschleife debut this weekend in the VLN Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) season premier. The 36-year-old Pole starts the 66. ADAC Westfalenfahrt with the Porsche Cayman of ProSport Racing in the VT3 class.

Racing in the VT3 class is only the first step for Kubica, who is aiming for the GT3 top class. ProSport has been the choice of many successful drivers to get their Nordschleife Permit A licence – necessary to race a high-performance vehicle in the NLS. Names such as André Lotterer Earl Bamber, Matt Campbell, Jamie Green and the Sheldon and Kelvin van der Linde brothers preceded him.

“We are of course very proud to be able to welcome Robert Kubica, a Formula 1 driver, to our team,” ProSport Racing team principal Christoph Esser said.

“We have prepared our Cayman in the best possible way for the new season so that Robert can get his permit step by step.”

The 2021 season gets underway this Saturday with the 4-hour 66. ADAC Westfalenfahrt.
