Italian GT veteran Vito Postiglione and rookie Edoardo Morricone have been signed up by Audi Sport Italia to represent the team in one of its two Audi R8 LMS GT3s in this year’s Italian GT Championship. The duo are joined by Filip Salaquarda for the Endurance rounds.

With these three drivers, Audi Sport Italia mans its Audi with newcomers to the team. Postiglione, however, contested a single race in 2020 with Audi Sport Italia. The 44-year-old spent most of his career in the national championship, winning the championship in 2013 with Ebimotors and continuing to win races with Imperiale Racing in recent years.

19-year-old Edoardo Morricone steps into the sport of GT racing as a complete novice, having last raced cars in the Italian Formula 4 championship in 2018.

Completing the line-up for the Endurance races is Filip Salaquarda. The 37-year-old Czech is well-versed in racing with the Audi R8 LMS GT3 as he has driven Audi R8 LMS GT3s since 2014 with his family’s Team ISR in the Blancpain GT and ADAC GT Masters series.

Audi Sport Italia is scheduled to test in Monza a week before the first race at the same track on 30 April-2 May. The drivers for the second car will be announced shortly.
