JAS Motorsport Development Driver Erwin Zanotti joins Nova Race this weekend in Monza for the Italian GT Championship season-opener. The 20-year-old Italian is set to campaign the full championship with the Varese-based team aboard the Honda NSX GT3 Evo.

Without a teammate confirmed yet, Zanotti will contest this weekend’s Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Sprint races as the sole driver of the Honda NSX GT3 Evo.

The Desenzano del Garda-based driver joined the JAS Motorsport Driver Development Programme in March. He now follows in the footsteps of fellow junior driver Jacopo Guidetti who will pilot the Nova Race Honda NSX GT3 Evo sister car alongside Francesco de Luca.

The past several months were spent preparing Zanotti with test sessions in the NSX to gain valuable experience ahead of his first season in GT racing and only second full-time motorsports season.

“This is a great opportunity for for me – as a young driver – to develop myself and become better in every aspect of motorsport, both for my driving and for my personal growth,” said Zanotti.

“After driving the Nova Race Honda at Vallelunga in January, I took part in the first workshop of the JAS Driver Development Programme in Madrid at our winter training camp two weeks ago. It was an excellent way to start the season.”

Riccardo Incarbone, JAS Motorsport Driver Development Programme manager, added: “It’s great that Erwin will have the opportunity to put what he learns, on and off the track, as part of the Driver Development Programme, into practice by racing the NSX GT3 Evo this year.

“Nova Race are a title-winning team who have made no secret of their ambitions in the Italian GT Championship. Erwin will have a great opportunity to test himself against some of Italy’s best racing talent this year.”

The 2021 Italian GT season is set to kick off at Monza with its Sprint series rounds from 30 April-2 May, while the Endurance season will start at Circuit Enna-Pergusa from 21-23 May.
