Simone Jacone and Sasha Tempesta have been announced to take part in the opening round of the Italian GT Championship, with the 2021 season getting under way this weekend at Monza. The two drivers are set to pilot one of two confirmed Bonaldi Motorsport Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo cars in the Sprint series’ GT Cup, a class reserved for single-make championship cars.

Having been teammates during the 2014 Italian GT season behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo, Jacone and Tempesta look to improve on their runner-up championship result.

“I am very happy to be back in Italian GT with my friend Sasha Tempesta with whom I have already raced in the past,” said Jacone.

“We will try do our best behind the wheel of Bonaldi Motorsport’s Huracán, a top-tier team with great experience in the Super Trofeo series.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to test and get familiar with the car, however we will try to optimize with what we’ll have during this first race weekend at Monza. Our aim is to take home as many points as possible and then play the cards right throughout the rest of the championship.”

In addition to the Jacone and Tempesta entry, Bonaldi Motorsport will bring a second Huracán ST to Monza this weekend for Dutchman Daan Pijl and Fabio Vairani, bringing the number of cars in the GT Cup class to eleven.
