LP Racing has announced its driver line up before this weekend’s opening round of the 2021 Italian GT Endurance championship at Enna-Pergusa. Ready to tackle to famous Sicilian circuit will be current Sprint series Pro-Am championship leader Pietro Perolini, sharing the team’s Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo with Lorenzo Veglia and Angelo Negro.

“I am happy to be racing with my friend Lorenzo and to start the Endurance series,” commented Perolini. “I will meet Angelo in Pergusa and all three of us will try to do our best. I don’t know the track, but I’m sure that together with the team we can do an excellent job.”

24-year-old Turin native Veglia has taken part in the national GT series before, having been behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 and a Ferrari 488 GT3 in 2019 in which he finished fifth place overall in both the Sprint and Endurance series. 59-year-old Negro on the other hand is set to make his series debut after having previously participated in the FIA World Endurance Championship, Lamborghini Super Trofeo, Asian Le Mans Series, Ferrari Challenge and most recently in the International GT Open.

“I am very happy with this project together with Pietro, Angelo and Luca who I have known for a long time,” said Veglia. “It was a long time that I wanted to achieve this and in the end I succeeded. This line-up is a very good one and we will immediately begin to find the right path for the best race set-up.”

Team principal Luca Pirri, of Sicilian origins, is confident in a successful trip to his home island to continue the momentum from Monza.

“I am excited for the ‘home’ race. We are making our debut with a new but competitive drivers crew and hope to bring home as many points as possible. As always, the whole team will give it 110 percent as the Italian series returns to Pergusa for the first time since 2004. It will be a new challenge for everyone.”
