Thomas ‘Tommy’ Kiefer is back for his fourth Nürburgring 24 Hours with Four Motors. Last year, the #320 Bioconcept Car Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup made it home in 45th. Now, with a new tyre supplier in Michelin, the Smudo-led team is aiming higher, but more importantly, to prove that environmental-friendly solutions for fuel, oil and lightweight body parts very much can go hand-in-hand with motorsports. Just like last year, Tommy joins Thomas von Löwis, Smudo and Charles Kauffman aboard the blue Porsche.

Thomas Kiefer: “This year I’m starting with Four Motors again, with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Cup car. I will share the car with Charles Kauffman, Smudo and Tom von Löwis, so the same as last year. There are some small differences in terms of new partners, for example, like Michelin. We have their tyres now and due to that we adapted the set-up a little bit to better suit the tyres.

“Today was really about getting comfortable with the car. We had some small issues during the first qualifying session which was of course not easy as it was actually dry on the GP track but really wet on the Nordschleife. We did what we needed to do and had some homework afterwards. We worked on the car until the second qualifying and there everything felt really good.

“I got to do my laps in ‘Q2’ as well. It’s always very interesting when you start on your first proper flying lap when it’s already dark, that always makes it a little bit special – and difficult of course.

“I’m quite happy with what we have done today. The car felt especial good in the end with the new set-up and the Michelin tyres, so all is good so far. There are some small things that we will keep working on until the race.

“I’m looking forward to the race. It’s still a big question mark what the weather will do, it seems that it’s going to be very interesting! Hopefully it won’t get too crazy so that not only the drivers but also the marshals and spectators, and everyone who’s working over here, can just enjoy this beautiful event.”
