Hankook FFF Racing Team held on to the fastest lap of the weekend set Thursday night in ‘Q2’ until the closing minutes came around. The slight drizzle that slowly began to appear throughout the one-hour session looked to slow everyone down just enough to secure the Lamborghini first place, but it was brand compatriot Konrad Motorsport who stole FFF’s thunder when in overtime Axcil Jefferies went seconds faster than Bortolotti’s time (8:18.575).

Setting the second-fastest time of session, but still slower than FFF Racing’s, was Sven Müller who posted the third-best time of the combined qualifying sessions when he posted an 8:19.274 in the #44 Falken Motorsports Porsche 991.2 GT3R, fewer than 7 tenths off the FFF Lambo’s time.

Marco Wittmann secured fourth place for the #98 Rowe Racing BMW M6 GT3 with a time of 8:19.725, staying half a second ahead of the #4 Mercedes-AMG Team HRT Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Manuel Metzger (8:20.162), who pipped into the top five as one of the last cars to take the chequered flag.

Only a handful of noteworthy incidents took place, with the #169 Giti Tire Motorsport by WS Racing BMW F30 crashing at Flugplatz halfway into the session requiring a crew to recover the car, and the #12 Lionspeed by Car Collection Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3 losing part of its front-end in a collision with the guardrail and then driving it all the way back to the Grand Prix track to park at the exit of the pit lane.

The #5 Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3, meanwhile, has been penalised for breaking the speed limit in the pits. All of its lap times have been deleted.

Watch the Top 30 Qualifying Shoot-out where pole position will be awarded tonight at 18:30 CEST on GT.REPORT/live.
