With three minutes remaining in the session, the German was left atop the charts as he was one of the last drivers to cross the finish line with a flying lap before the red flag. His 1:26.687 when Qualifying 2 ended is the fastest lap of the weekend so far. The early end was caused by the #16 Rowe Racing BMW M6 GT3 of Timo Glock who had stopped on the track with a technical issue.

Starting race 2 from second on the grid will be Lucas Auer, putting his #22 Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Mercedes-AMG GT3 on the front row with a time of 1:26.901.

Occupying row 2 are Mike Rockenfeller and Kelvin van der Linde – both Abt Sportsline Audi R8 LMS GT3 pilots staying in the hunt for a repeat of Saturday’s one-two victory.

Daniel Juncadella bounced back from an unfortunate first race in which he injured his hand during the first-lap accident that took out multiple cars. The Catalan driver of the #8 Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 starts from fifth on the grid alongside Team Rosberg’s Nico Müller (#51 Audi R8 LMS GT3).

The 55-minute plus 1 lap race 2 gets underway today at 13:30 CEST.
