ADAC GT Masters champion SSR Performance is set for its DTM debut at the Nürburgring on 20-22 August. The München-based team brings with it the #92 Porsche 991.2 GT3R to be driven by Michael Ammermüller, marking Porsche’s debut in the DTM.

The Porsche entry brings the number of manufacturers in the DTM championship to seven and now includes all German car manufacturers with GT3 machinery. With Ammermüller added to the entry list for the Nürburgring, the Eifel race now counts a season-high grid of 23 cars.

“As business owner, I’m always thinking of where and how my team can be positioned in the best possible way,” SSR Performance director Stefan Schlund says.

“With this guest start we want to explore whether the DTM is the best platform for SSR Performance to expand into in the future. We had a last-minute, very compressed preparation and go at it with a newly assembled team. We are looking forward to the guest appearance at the Nürburgring with its long heritage.”

Current ADAC GT Masters championship leader Michael Ammermüller adds: “I’m very happy SSR Performance selected me for the DTM guest start. This will be my first race weekend in the series – I’m sure it will be a huge challenge. Due to time restraints, it was not possible to perfectly prepare, regulations are different. That will definitely make things exciting and interesting! I’m highly motivated for my participation at the Nürburgring.”
