A warm sunny morning but with a strong wind blowing blowing in from the North Sea set the scene for the first qualifying session of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS in the dunes of Zandvoort.
Jules Gounon set a first quickest time of 1m33.844s with the #88 Akkodis ASP Mercedes-AMG GT3, but Charles Weerts immediately topped the timing sheets with 1m33.734s to put the #32 Team WRT Audi R8 LMS GT3 in first position.
Ulysse de Pauw in the #53 AF Corse Ferrari was on a very good lap until the last sector where a big slide in turn 13 cost him time and dropped him down to fifth position.
With 3 minutes on the clock left of this first session, Thomas Neubauer put the #30 Team WRT Audi on top with 1m33.562s. However, it was Charles Weerts who again conquered pole position with a time of 1m33.145s.
De Pauw grabbed third place with 1m33.271s in the last minute of the session.
