Alexander Sims will make his Intelligent Money British GT championship return as part of Century Motorsport’s revised driver line-ups for the last two championship rounds. The BMW factory driver will race in both Brands Hatch and Donnington Park, sharing duties with Henry Dawes and Darren Leung in the respective races.
Sims’ last full-season British GT outing came in 2015 when he finished second overall with Barwell Motorsports. The Brit has since enjoyed international success as a BMW factory driver, with wins including Totalenergies 24 Hours of Spa, Nurburgring 24 hours, and Petit Le Mans.
“It’s been a while since I last raced in British GT but I know the circuits and also the M4 from BMW’s Nurburgring programme so I shouldn’t be too rusty” said Sims, who raced in Formula E from 2018-2021 and currently drives for Corvette Racing in IMSA long-distance races and Le Mans 24 Hours. “In any case, my priority within the Pro-Am crew is to get Henry and Darren up to speed – a role I took a lot of satisfaction from when racing for Barwell. Time isn’t on our side but we’ll give it our best shot.”
Dawes, the former Fun Cup Endurance Championship winner, has been racing with Century in Ginetta Super Cup for the last two seasons. On the other hand, Leung recently stepped up to the Ginetta Super Cup after campaigning in the Ginetta GT Academy in 2021 and participating in major GT4 races, including the Dubai 24 Hours and the Abu Dhabi 6 hours.
