Mercedes-AMG Team AlManar set the pace in Pre-Qualifying for the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS at the Nürburgring on Saturday, with Fabian Schiller setting a time of 1m54.173s in the #777 car. The German team was more than three-tenths faster than their nearest competitor, the #19 Iron Lynx Lamborghini of Leonardo Pulcini who clocked a time of 1:54.488.
Third place went to the #159 Garage 59 McLaren 720S GT3 EVO of Marvin Kirchhöfer who was just a fraction behind Pulcini with a time of 1:54.521.
The #85 Grasser Racing Lamborghini led the Silver Cup and placed fifth overall with Glen Van Berlo driving. Barwell Motorsport topped Pro-Am with the #78 Lamborghini driven by Dennis Lind and Rob Collard. The Bronze Cup was led by a Porsche with CLRT in 13th place overall, and Fred Makowiecki was the factory driver posting a time of 1m55.197s in the #44 machine.
Despite some off-track moments, the session ran smoothly without interruptions, including a spin for Lorenzo Patrese in the #99 Audi. Dry conditions prevailed throughout the session with rain beginning to fall in the final 8 minutes of the session. Sunday’s forecast predicts sunshine.
Qualifying will take place tomorrow morning at 08:45 CEST to set the grid for a three-hour Endurance Cup race starting at 14:45.
