In a highly anticipated comeback, the iconic Lotus brand is set to grace the British GT grid once again as Mahiki Racing confirms its entry for the upcoming season. The team will field two new Lotus Emira GT4s in partnership with Aim Technologies, a prominent supplier of motorsport electronics.

This marks Lotus’s return to British GT after a hiatus since the invitational entry in the 2017 Silverstone 500. Mahiki Racing’s four-man crew comprises experienced drivers Ian Duggan, Gordie Mutch, Steven Lake, and Nathan Harrison. The partnership with Aim Technologies adds a layer of technical expertise to the team’s ambitious campaign.

Lotus’s last GT4 appearance was with the Evora in 2016, and the manufacturer’s 29 British GT wins include the most recent victory in 2015. The production-spec Emiras served as official safety cars for British GT throughout 2023, creating further excitement for the brand’s full-fledged return.

Ian Duggan, the only Mahiki Racing member with past British GT experience, expressed his anticipation, stating, “I can’t wait to begin this journey with Gordie who I have known since our days in Ginetta GT5.” Gordie Mutch, partnering with Duggan, is eager to make his mark in British GT, with the duo setting their sights firmly on the Pro-Am championship.

The sister Emira will see the pairing of Steven Lake and Nathan Harrison. Lake, the founder and director of Aim Technologies, brings a wealth of experience from stints in Lotus Cup Europe and Radical Challenge. Harrison, a regular Porsche Carrera Cup GB race-winner, is excited to transition to GT racing and is optimistic about the challenges ahead.

Harrison expressed his excitement, saying, “GT racing is very new to me, coming from a single-make championship like Porsche Carrera Cup GB. Having tested the Lotus Emira GT4 I am very happy with how the car has been running. It’s going to be different but I am looking forward to the challenge!”

Mahiki Racing, backed by the luxury lifestyle and nightclub brand Mahiki, has further solidified its presence in motorsport. The British GT program is the second confirmed by the team, which will also enter a pair of Emiras in the GT4 European Series Powered by RAFA Racing Club.

The British GT season opener is scheduled for March 30 + April 1 at Oulton Park, promising a thrilling return for Lotus and Mahiki Racing.
