Team Abba Racing is set to maintain its family legacy in the British GT series as the seasoned father-son duo, Richard and Sam Neary, prepare for their fifth consecutive season together. The family-run team, a familiar face in the series since 2015, has established itself as a force to be reckoned with, adding a personal touch to the competitive racing landscape.

Richard Neary, who initially debuted alongside Martin Short in 2015, has seen the team evolve and adapt over the years. The addition of Adam Christodoulou and, later, the debut of his son Sam in 2020, marked significant milestones for Team Abba Racing.

Switching to the Evo-spec Mercedes-AMG midway through the last season proved to be a strategic move, and the team will continue with the same chassis for the upcoming races. While the team has secured an overall victory in the past, the Nearys have their sights set on clinching the elusive Silver-Am title, a goal that has eluded them since the category’s inception in 2021.

British GT is a very different beast now and looks set to be full of factory drivers once again,” said Richard. “So, for us, Silver-Am is definitely something worth winning. We know we have the speed to contend for class wins and overall podiums. It’s just putting that potential into practice consistently enough across the campaign.”

Sam Neary, bringing a season’s worth of European experience from his Fanatec GT Europe endeavors last year, emphasizes the competitiveness of the team’s Mercedes-AMG. Despite facing newer GT3 models, the team believes in the capabilities of their well-rounded car, perfectly suited to the British circuits.

“Having said that, and if I’m completely honest, last year wasn’t our best. To be successful in British GT, a team like ours must maximize every opportunity, and a couple slipped through the net. Of course, we are always looking towards the very front, but prioritizing Silver-Am is also a major consideration this year,” added Sam.

Oulton Park will set the stage for British GT’s season opener on March 30 + April 1, where Team Abba Racing aims to showcase their prowess. The full-season entry list will be unveiled at the media day on March 12, building anticipation for another thrilling season of British GT racing.
