The third round of the Italian GT Endurance Championship, held at the Imola Circuit, concluded with a victory for Felice Jelmini and Alex Frassineti (Honda NSX GT3). The Nova Race team triumphed in a challenging race marked by numerous incidents, multiple safety cars, and a stoppage at the 104th minute (38 laps).
Everything happened in the race that seems to have been the most difficult of the season so far, the rain accompanied the whole race from the start behind the safety car and several stops, a first red flag forcing the cars into the pit lane, the restart, again behind the safety car, was followed by even heavier rain, after another series of safety cars and an FCY, the race was definitively interrupted awarding the victory to Felice Jelmini paired with Alex Frassineti (Honda NSX GT3).
The Team Nova Race crew triumphed in a difficult race, characterized by numerous accidents with the entry of several safety cars and interrupted by the race direction at the 104th minute (38 laps) due to the track being impassable due to heavy rain, preceding Comandini-Denes-Guerra (BMW M4 GT3-BMW Italia/Ceccato Racing Team) and Cazzaniga-Di Folco-Liberati (Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2), the new leaders of the overall standings.
Behind the Nova Race crew were the BMW standard-bearers, Comandini-Denes-Guerra, at the end of a splendid comeback that saw them recover eleven positions and finish ahead of Cazzaniga-Di Folco-Liberati. The VSR crew. Fisichella-Leclerc-Mosca (Ferrari 296 GT3), authors of fourth place in Imola, ahead of the second BMW of Cassarà-De Luca-Nilsson, first in the GT3 PRO-AM, also protagonists of a nice comeback from the 14th starting position.
Authors of an excellent race were also Ponzio-Gai-Mac (Ferrari 296 GT3) who, thanks to the eight points earned, climbed to third position in the standings. The AF Corse crew preceded Ferri-Bodellini-Marchetti (Mercedes AMG Gt3-Nova Race), seventh overall and first in the GT3 AM, who climbed from the 21st starting position, finishing ahead of Zanon-Stadsbader-Michelotto (Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2-VSR), Scholze-Mukovoz-Patrese (Audi R8 LMS-Tresor/Attempto Racing) and Pavlovic-Spengler-Sanporn (Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2-Ecoleaf).
Bad luck, however, for the other two Tresor-Audi Sport Italia crews, both in the running for the title on the eve of the Imola race, Mazzola-Delli Guanti-Aka, who retired due to an accident on the 20th lap, and Cola-Moncini-Van Berlo, 13th overall, who slipped out of the top ten in the final part of the race.
