Abba Racing’s dynamic father-son duo, Richard and Sam Neary, are gearing up for their sixth consecutive season in the British GT Championship with a bold new look and a shift to the Pro-Am category in 2025.
While their Mercedes-AMG GT3 remains a staple of the grid, fans will notice a fresh livery when testing begins in late February. The team’s signature black and green color scheme gets a striking update with the addition of a “gold sparkle,” ensuring the car stands out even more on track.
The move to Pro-Am comes as a result of Sam Neary’s FIA reclassification to gold status over the winter. Having previously competed in the Silver-Am category since 2021, the regrading means the Nearys now face tougher competition against some of the championship’s biggest teams.
Despite finishing second in the Silver-Am standings last season, the Nearys proved their mettle with three outright podiums, securing eighth place overall and just 12 points shy of the top five. Their ambitions for 2025 are even higher.
“Silver-Am gave us consistent podiums, but our goal has always been to compete with the very best,” said Richard Neary. “For a small, family-run team to challenge the big names is something we take pride in, and we’ll be pushing hard in Pro-Am this year.”
Sam Neary added: “The gold sparkle isn’t about my new FIA grading—just a happy coincidence! Last year, we reminded people of what we’re capable of, and now we want to fight the factory-backed teams more consistently. A top-five finish in the championship would be a huge achievement.”
The British GT season kicks off at Donington Park on April 5-6, but fans can get an early glimpse of the new-look Abba Racing entry during the official media day at Silverstone on March 21. Tickets for the event are free but must be reserved in advance at silverstone.co.uk.
