Following a successful debut season together, Mahiki Racing has been named Lotus’ official partner team for the 2025 British GT Championship. With an expanded lineup and continued support from Lotus, Mahiki Racing aims to build on last year’s momentum and contend for top honors in the GT4 category.
Mahiki Racing, formed in 2023 to campaign the Lotus Emira GT4 in both British and European GT racing, made an immediate impact last season with a class win, multiple podium finishes, and GT4 lap records at Silverstone and Brands Hatch. Now, with a full year of experience and a strengthened partnership with Lotus—including access to the legendary Hethel test track and additional commercial support—the team is targeting even greater success in 2025.
Former British GT4 champion Jack Mitchell makes his return to the championship, teaming up with Steven Lake in Mahiki Racing’s first Pro-Am entry. The 26-year-old, who clinched the 2018 title by a single point and later secured a GT3 victory in 2020, will be looking to make history as the first driver to win two British GT4 titles.
“I’m really excited to be teaming up with Mahiki Racing and Steven Lake for the upcoming British GT season,” said Mitchell. “The team had a strong first year, and the progress they made was very impressive. Both mine and Steve’s goals align perfectly, giving me full confidence for the season ahead. It’s going to be an exciting year for us all.”
Lake, meanwhile, embarks on his second British GT campaign with Mahiki and Lotus after competing alongside Nathan Harrison in 2024. He also raced the same Emira in the GT4 European Series powered by RAFA Racing Club last season.
“This season marks an exciting chapter as we partner with Lotus officially,” Lake said. “The entire team has worked tirelessly to refine every aspect of our approach. Our focus is on consistency, precision, and maximizing our performance to be in podium contention at every race.”
A major addition to Mahiki Racing’s leadership comes with the appointment of former GT4 champion and British GT race winner Joe Osborne as team manager. His extensive experience, including time as a factory GT driver and in driver development, strengthens Mahiki’s trackside operations.
“I’m looking forward to another season of British GT, albeit in a very different capacity,” Osborne said. “I’ve raced and won in this championship, and I’ve loved commentating on it in recent years, but this new opportunity was one I couldn’t turn down. Our expanded partnership with Lotus will make the Emira a formidable contender in 2025.”
Lotus, which has nearly 30 Emira GT4s in customer hands worldwide, continues to solidify its position in the GT4 market. The brand’s motorsport division has grown its performance and commercial expertise, incorporating knowledge from Formula 1 and endurance racing.
“Motorsport has been in Lotus’ DNA since Colin and Hazel Chapman built the Lotus Mk1, and over 75 years later, we’re still committed to proving our expertise on track,” said Gavan Kershaw, Head of Motorsport at Lotus. “Endurance racing is the ultimate team sport, and I can’t wait to be back trackside with Mahiki Racing as we take on British GT with the Emira GT4.”
Mahiki Racing’s Emiras will appear at the British GT media day at Silverstone on March 21. The seven-round, nine-race championship kicks off at Donington Park on April 5-6, with fans able to reserve free tickets at https://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/british-gt-championship.
