The Porsche marque is set to make a triumphant full-time return to the British GT Championship in 2025, with SD Team confirming its entry with the cutting-edge 911 GT3 R. The team, operated by the experienced Team Parker Racing, will see Nick Jones and Porsche factory driver Sven Müller team up behind the wheel for the season ahead.
Jones, a British GT veteran, and Müller, a standout talent in global GT3 racing, will bring their proven partnership to the championship after a successful 2024 Michelin Le Mans Cup campaign. The duo secured two podium finishes last year, including an impressive third place at the prestigious Road to Le Mans event. Their new ride, based on the latest 992 Porsche platform, marks the first regular appearance of a Porsche GT3 in British GT since 2022, following a one-off outing by SD Team at Silverstone in 2023.
Nick Jones is no stranger to the British GT scene or Team Parker Racing. Having raced with the team for six seasons between 2017 and 2023, he clinched the GT4 Pro-Am title in 2018 and an outright victory in 2020 with a Bentley Continental GT3 at Donington Park. After focusing on European competition in recent years, Jones is eager to return to familiar territory. “I’m really looking forward to being back in British GT this year and reuniting with both Team Parker Racing and Sven,” he said. “Racing in Europe has been refreshing, and I’ve learned a lot. I’m fitter and more determined than ever, and I’m hungry to get back out on track.”
Müller, meanwhile, brings a wealth of experience to the grid. The 2016 Porsche Supercup and Carrera Cup Germany champion has since excelled in top-tier series like the FIA World Endurance Championship, Japanese Super GT, and GT World Challenge Europe. “I’m very excited for my first time in British GT,” Müller said. “I really like the English tracks like Silverstone and Brands Hatch, and I’m looking forward to learning some of the new ones. Nick and I enjoyed a lot of success last season, so we want to fight for more trophies this year.”
While Müller will contest most of the season alongside Jones, a scheduling conflict will see him miss the Spa-Francorchamps round in June. British driver Harry King, a former Ginetta GT Supercup and Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion, will step in as a substitute for that event.
The SD Team Porsche will hit the track for the first time at the British GT Media Day test at Silverstone on March 21, before the season kicks off with a two-hour race at Donington Park on April 5-6. With a potent driver lineup, a proven team, and Porsche’s return to the championship, SD Team is poised to make waves in 2025.
