Steller Motorsport is making a much-anticipated return to the British GT grid for the first time in five years at next weekend’s Silverstone 500, entering an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2 for drivers Matt Topham and Darren Burke.

The team, which last ran in the top GT3 category at Silverstone in 2020 with Richard Williams and Sennan Fielding, has since focused its efforts elsewhere — most recently achieving a class podium in its debut with the new Corvette Z06 GT3.R in the GT World Challenge Europe. Despite its Corvette affiliation, Steller is opting for familiarity and proven performance by fielding an Audi in the Silver-Am class for this event.

Topham, a double winner of the Silverstone 500 in GT4, is no stranger to endurance success but will be tackling the Audi R8 in competition for the first time. He recently filled in for Rob Collard in Barwell’s Lamborghini at Donington, a car that shares fundamental similarities with the Audi GT3 platform.

His co-driver, Darren Burke, makes his British GT3 debut after campaigning in GT4 last season. The duo share a long-standing connection dating back to Topham’s early days racing Caterhams, where Burke was his driver coach. Although they’ve only raced together once before — a one-off GT4 entry at Donington in 2021 — their chemistry is expected to be an asset.

Steller’s entry marks the second guest GT3 announcement ahead of the prestigious Silverstone 500. Additional entries are expected when the full lineup is released next week.
