Ferrari extended its winning streak in the FIA World Endurance Championship to three with a hard-fought one-two finish in the 2025 TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. The #51 Ferrari 499P of James Calado, Antonio Giovinazzi and Alessandro Pier Guidi overcame early setbacks and fierce competition to secure back-to-back victories.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the result was the comeback story behind it: Giovinazzi had crashed at the top of Eau Rouge during Thursday’s FP2 session on his first lap out of the pits, causing heavy damage to the car and putting the crew on the back foot. The Ferrari mechanics completed an extensive rebuild to get the car back on track – a job ultimately repaid in full with a commanding drive and victory.

The race saw plenty of movement at the front, but for much of the six hours it was the #50 Ferrari that looked in control from pole. James Calado opened for the #51 with a measured stint focused on tyre preservation, before handing over to Antonio Giovinazzi, who kept the car in the hunt through the middle phase. Once Alessandro Pier Guidi got behind the wheel, the #51 began to edge closer to the front. A short-fill strategy helped the crew leapfrog their sister car in the pits, but it was far from a clear run to the flag. Pier Guidi found himself locked in a fierce scrap with BMW’s Robin Frijns and Alpine’s Mick Schumacher — a three-way battle that raged for several laps and forced the Ferrari driver to push hard to defend track position. Even after a final splash of fuel, the #51 rejoined with enough of a margin to stay ahead, clinching the victory by just over four seconds.

Alpine Endurance Team completed the podium with the #36 A424 of Mick Schumacher, Jules Gounon and Frédéric Makowiecki. The team made an early statement as Makowiecki delivered an impressive opening stint, climbing from sixth on the grid to second and pulling off a bold pass on James Calado into Eau Rouge. Gounon built on that performance, briefly taking the lead before the Ferraris took back control. Schumacher kept the pressure on Ferrari’s second car in the final hour, chasing Nicklas Nielsen in the #50 all the way to the finish, but ultimately had to settle for third – Alpine’s second podium in as many races.

Toyota recovered from a disappointing qualifying to finish fourth with the #8 GR010 Hybrid of Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryō Hirakawa, climbing from 15th on the grid. Cadillac enjoyed its best result of the season with the #12 and #38 entries finishing fifth and sixth respectively.

Ferrari edges Ford in LMGT3 battle

In LMGT3, the #21 VISTA AF Corse Ferrari 296 LMGT3 of Alessio Rovera, François Heriau and Simon Mann secured a dominant win, benefitting from a clean run and issues for early leader Akkodis ASP Lexus. Rovera took control after the Lexus lost time in the pits and pulled away to win by over 40 seconds.

The battle for second went to the wire, with less than three seconds covering the #88 Proton Ford Mustang, the #54 AF Corse Ferrari, and the #77 Proton Mustang. Aston Martin’s challenge faded after being caught out by safety car timing and on-track incidents.

The FIA WEC season continues with its centrepiece: the 24 Hours of Le Mans, set for 11–15 June.
