The entry list is officially out for next weekend’s Chevrolet Detroit SportsCar Classic, as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship returns to street racing in the Motor City.
A total of 22 cars are set to take the grid across the GTP and GTD Pro classes for one of the final sportscar races before teams and drivers head to France for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in early June.
Eleven GTP entries headline next weekend’s race, with the track debut of the Aston Martin Valkyrie expected to turn heads thanks to its V12 engine roaring through the streets of Detroit.
The GTD Pro field matches GTP with 11 entries, featuring most of the usual contenders.
While there are no major team or driver announcements with the release of the entry list, there are still several compelling storylines heading into IMSA’s final race of May.
Porsche Penske enters its fifth race weekend looking to extend its perfect season across both programs with another top podium finish. In GTD Pro, an intriguing championship battle is unfolding, with AO Racing aiming to increase its points lead over the rest of the field.
Next weekend’s 100-minute Chevrolet Detroit SportsCar Classic goes green at 3:30 p.m. EST and will be streamed live on Peacock.
