It was a stellar morning for Jack Aitken, who once again proved his mettle by securing pole position in his Emil-Frey Ferrari for this afternoon’s second DTM race at the Dekra Lausitzring with a 1:19.837 lap. He edged out Schubert-BMW’s Marco Wittmann by a mere 0.067 seconds, ensuring another strong showing for BMW.
Thomas Preining, piloting the Manthey EMA Porsche, slotted into third, just 0.104 seconds off the pace, while Lucas Auer in his Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf Mercedes took fourth, missing out by 0.131 seconds.
Ben Dörr delivered one of the best qualifying results for his team, placing his McLaren into fifth place. Meanwhile, Thierry Vermeulen and Ben Green, both Aitken’s teammates, rounded out the top seven.
The Sunday race at the Dekra Lausitzring is set to commence at 13:30 local time.
