It’s the fifth race weekend of the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season and the second and final 100-minute street course race of the year.
Saturday marks the final stop before the trek to France, as many IMSA teams and drivers make their last tune-up ahead of one of the biggest events on the sportscar calendar.
While GTP and GTD classes battled in the season’s first street course race at Long Beach, GTD Pro joins the top class this weekend in Detroit.
The headline coming into Saturday’s race is the pursuit of “Porsche Penske Perfection,” with the team aiming for its fifth consecutive win of the 2025 season. Other notable Porsche efforts include AO Racing in GTD Pro, which is seeking its third straight victory—albeit across multiple classes.
Last season, Wayne Taylor Racing captured a GTP class win under the Acura banner, with the No. 10 car reaching the top step of the podium for the first time in nearly four years.
This year, the race carries added significance from a partner perspective, as WTR now fields Cadillac entries. However, the 2025 season has been less than favorable for the reunited pairing. Still, with a Le Mans debut on the horizon, Detroit could serve as a launchpad for both the team and the brand heading into their highly anticipated appearance in France.
Saturday’s 2025 Detroit Grand Prix begins at 3:30 p.m. ET and will stream live on NBC’s Peacock. The race will also be available internationally on IMSA.TV and YouTube.
