GetSpeed will start from pole for today’s GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup race at Monza after the #17 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Jules Gounon, Luca Stolz and Fabian Schiller topped a closely fought qualifying session.

The crew secured top spot with a combined time of 1m45.235sec, narrowly beating the #48 MANN-FILTER Mercedes-AMG of Lucas Auer, Matteo Cairoli and Maro Engel by 0.096sec. It was Schiller who sealed the deal in Q3, setting the session’s best time of 1m45.086sec to confirm a front-row lockout for Mercedes-AMG.

Ferrari leads early as Mercedes strikes back

Ferrari had started the day out front, with Alessio Rovera going fastest in Q1 with a 1m45.376sec in the #51 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3. The Italian stayed on top through the session, despite late flyers from Auer and Stolz.

In Q2, Mercedes turned up the pace. Gounon put the #17 GetSpeed car on provisional pole with a 1m45.000sec, the fastest lap of the day, while Cairoli kept the #48 MANN-FILTER entry close with a 1m45.225sec.

Lamborghini and McLaren rise in Q3

Q3 brought a surge from Lamborghini. Jordan Pepper briefly topped the session with a 1m45.269sec in the #63 Grasser Racing Team Huracán before being eclipsed by Schiller. Franck Perera then responded in the #163 VSR Lamborghini with a 1m45.142sec behind Schiller, lifting the car to fourth overall, just behind the GRT entry.

Garage 59 swept row three in an impressive display for McLaren. The #59 entry of Joseph Loake, Benjamin Goethe and Marvin Kirchhöfer will start fifth overall, while the #58 of Adam Smalley, Dean MacDonald and Louis Prette claimed Gold Cup pole in sixth.

Behind the two McLarens, the #9 Boutsen VDS Mercedes-AMG of Maximilian Götz, Maxime Martin and Mikaël Grenier will start seventh, just ahead of the #51 AF Corse Ferrari of Alessio Rovera, Vincent Abril and Alessandro Pier Guidi. Rovera had earlier gone fastest in Q1 with a 1m45.376sec, but the car faded slightly across the final two sessions.

The #111 CSA Racing McLaren of Simon Gachet, James Kell and Arthur Rougier secured ninth overall and second in the Gold Cup, while the top Aston Martin was the #7 Comtoyou Racing entry of Nicki Thiim, Marco Sørensen and Mattia Drudi in tenth.

Silver Cup honours went to the #21 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin of Nicolas Baert, Jamie Day and Kobe Pauwels, which will start 14th overall, just behind the Bronze Cup pole-sitting #188 Garage 59 McLaren of Guilherme Oliveira, Miguel Ramos and Thomas Fleming in 13th.
