A dramatic weekend of GT and prototype action unfolded in both Europe and North America, with race-winning moves delivered in the final minutes and major streaks coming to an end. From the high-speed straights of Monza to the tight Detroit street circuit, here’s your full catch-up.

GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup – Monza

Victory at Monza went to the #48 MANN-FILTER Mercedes-AMG of Maro Engel, Lucas Auer and Matteo Cairoli, whose Winward Racing team executed a perfectly timed pit stop under Full Course Yellow to jump ahead of early leader Jules Gounon and control the second half of the race.

GetSpeed’s pole-sitting #17 Mercedes-AMG had led the early stages with Gounon at the wheel, but lost out on pit sequence and ultimately retired from podium contention in the final hour due to a loose wheelnut.

Cairoli built a commanding lead in the middle stint before handing over to Auer, who brought the yellow Mercedes home 16 seconds clear of the #59 Garage 59 McLaren, while the #7 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin completed the podium.

IMSA – Detroit Sports Car Classic

Renger van der Zande produced a last-gasp overtake to win for Acura in Detroit, bringing the #93 Meyer Shank Racing ARX-06 to the front with just over three minutes to go after chasing down and passing Ricky Taylor’s #10 Cadillac in a hard-fought GTP battle.

The 100-minute street race saw three different manufacturers lead at different stages. Felipe Nasr initially controlled proceedings for Porsche Penske but was shuffled back after late-race contact and traffic. Taylor made a move on Nasr but couldn’t hold back Van der Zande, who surged into the lead at Turn 1 and never looked back.

In GTD Pro, Ford claimed bragging rights over local rival Chevrolet as Seb Priaulx and Mike Rockenfeller won in the #64 Multimatic Mustang GT3. They held off the #3 Corvette of Garcia and Sims, while Pfaff Motorsports gave Lamborghini its first podium of the year in third.

Next up: Zandvoort and Hockenheim bring the heat

Next weekend, all eyes turn to Zandvoort, where DTM and ADAC GT Masters share the stage at the Dutch seaside circuit. Further south, International GT Open resumes its season with a visit to Hockenheim, as summer racing kicks into gear across Europe.
