The Six Hours of the Glen marks the return of IMSA’s long-distance endurance format for the first time since Sebring, kicking off the first of two six-hour races this season.
Fifty-six entries are set to take the grid at the New York circuit next weekend, as teams and drivers return from Le Mans to the States for more racing action.
It will also be the first race since the 12 Hours of Sebring in which all four classes compete together. LMP2 will contest only its third race of the season, with the class scheduled to participate in all but one of the remaining events in 2025.
Among the entries, Magnus Racing returns following a brief departure from the series after the Rolex 24, due to team owner John Potter’s business commitments outside of racing. The returning Aston Martin program will feature Potter, Spencer Pumpelly, and Marco Sorensen.
Other notable entries include the No. 5 Proton Competition Porsche 963 and the No. 63 Lamborghini Squadra Corse SC63, both making their first appearance since Sebring.
Heading into Watkins Glen, several streaks that carried into Detroit have now ended—most notably Porsche Penske’s winning run, which concluded with Acura’s triumph in the Motor City.
Now, the focus shifts to the second half of the season, with championship battles heating up across the board. GTP and GTD each have leaders holding 100+ point advantages, but the LMP2 and GTD Pro classes remain tightly contested heading into this pivotal race on the calendar.
It will be interesting to see how drivers and teams respond after long international travels and/or extended breaks as they gear up for Watkins Glen.
