A brand-new racing series celebrating the origins of the GT3 formula is set to launch in 2026, following a joint announcement by Peter Auto and SRO Motorsports Group during the 24 Hours of Le Mans weekend.
The GT3 Revival Series will be exclusively dedicated to GT3 cars homologated between 2006 and 2013 — the first generation of machines that laid the foundation for what has become one of the most influential categories in modern motorsport.
The initiative comes as the GT3 class approaches its 20th anniversary. Introduced in 2006, GT3 has since evolved into a global standard for both sprint and endurance racing, shaping championships from grassroots national series to international showpieces such as the FIA World Endurance Championship and the repurposed DTM.

SRO, under the leadership of Stéphane Ratel, has been instrumental in the class’s success, having introduced the concept to the FIA in 2005 and subsequently grown it through a vast portfolio of GT-focused series around the world.
Peter Auto, meanwhile, brings extensive experience in the historic racing arena, with flagship events such as the Le Mans Classic and Tour Auto forming the backbone of its calendar. The collaboration between the two organisers also rekindles a historic partnership: Ratel and Patrick Peter first joined forces in 1993 to co-found the BPR Global GT Series alongside Jürgen Barth.
Details of the GT3 Revival Series, including the full 2026 race calendar, will be confirmed during the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa at the end of June. The event will feature a record-breaking 76-car GT3 grid — a fitting backdrop to unveil a series that pays tribute to the cars that started it all.
