As Britain bakes in the heat of the hottest run of days so far this year, the British GT Championship has gone on its summer holidays early as the field crosses the English Channel and kicks off SRO’s SpeedWeek with a three-hour extravaganza.

GT3
All eyes are focused on the title fight in GT3, with 2 Seas Motorsport’s two Mercedes-AMG GT3s leading the way as it stands but after a weekend to forget for championship leaders Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss, is Belgium the place where they can get back to winning ways?
Fresh off a win and a second at the Oulton Park double-header, teammates Maxi Götz and Kevin Tse will be hoping the momentum belongs to their side of the garage and turn a 10-point deficit into an an advantage to take to the final double-header of the season at Snetterton later in July. Indeed, the pair took a win on these shores just 12 months ago so know a thing or two about performing well round here.
They’ve got competition, though. Morgan Tillbrook and Marvin Kirchhöfer lie third and eight points shy of Tse/Götz in their Optimum Motorsport McLaren 720S GT3 Evo and are looking to rekindle the same sort of pace that powered them to third on the road at the Silverstone 500 – British GT’s other three-hour race this season.
Just six points behind is Hugo Cook in the best of the Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2. With co-driver Rob Collard missing the first round for medical reasons, only Cook can win the title for the pair, and having scored a win together in the first Oulton race, you wouldn’t discount them from being able to do the same at Spa. Especially when you consider the generally infallible Barwell strategists when it comes to these 180-minute enduros.
Giacomo Petrobelli and Jonny Adam’s charge to a solid result in Belgium 12 months ago and have started generally well this year in their Blackthorn Aston Martin Vantage. If it wasn’t for an 11th at Donington to begin this season, two fourths and a third would have them higher up than fifth in the standings.
Further down the entry, there are changes afoot as British GT super-sub Matt Topham replaces Mike Price in the second Optimum McLaren. While Jay Bridger, head of his own Bridger Motorsport squad, gets on-board the Honda NSX alongside Johnny Ip for this weekend in place of Luke Garlick.
GT4
Before we get into the title battle that could be quickly coming to a close, there’s intrigue elsewhere in GT4 as Mahiki Racing ditches the striking yellow-and-black Lotus Emiras.
While qualifying had been a remarkable display of speed, the Norfolk machines were notoriously fragile come the race with six DNFs between the three cars in what has been 12 races collectively. Indeed team boss Steven Lake and Jack Mitchell’s two podiums at Oulton Park – in a depleted GT4 entry – was the only bright spot in what has been a pretty tough start to 2025.
To try and convert the team’s obvious speed into positive results, Mahiki is now going to be racing Ginetta G56 GT4 Evos starting from Spa. The change in car has come with a reshuffle in drivers as Aiden Neate departs the team. In his place, Jack Mitchell swaps across to join Josh Miller while Blake Angliss – who has experience racing Ginettas and in British GT4 – joins Lake. The third car retains the same pairing of Joe Wheeler and Ian Duggan.
Back to the championship standings, and it’s been a domination for Marc Warren and Jack Brown so far this season. Three wins and a second in their Optimum Motorsport McLaren Artura, combined with two non-finishes for nearest rivals Ravi Ramyead and Charlie Robertson after a crash for the former in Oulton’s first race, has given Warren and Brown a near-unbeatable 50 point lead with five races remaining.
Stranger things have happened, but the duo have been so clinical in their performances this season that really it would need to be an act of god that stops Brown taking his second, and Warren his first, British GT4 title.
Ramyead and Robertson are back behind the wheel of the Century Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 Evo, and with victory in Silverstone’s three-hour race earlier in the year, the pair know what it takes to win in the longer races.
With the Endurance Cup returning, there’s two extra entries compared to last time out as Team Parker Racing bring a second Mercedes-AMG GT4 for Ed McDermott and Seb Morris, and Rob Boston Racing’s Porsche returns with Jamie Orton and Will Burns.
Two Endurance Cup teams have decided to skip the extra demands of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit as Jolt Racing and MKH Racing both elect to skip this foreign trip.
This weekend, qualifying gets underway at 18.35 local time on Saturday (an hour ahead of the UK), while the race starts at 12.30 on Sunday (11.30 in the UK) and you’ll be able to watch coverage live on GT REPORT!
