Thierry Vermeulen secured pole position for Race 2 at the Norisring with a lap of 48.666 seconds in Group A, earning his second career DTM pole and first of 2025. Driving the #69 Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3, the Dutchman delivered the team’s second pole of the season following Jack Aitken’s pole at the Lausitzring.

The front row had initially been completed by the #8 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 of Nicolas Baert who was fastest in Group B with a time of 48.744, but he was later disqualified for a technical infringement — full update here.

Following the disqualification of Nicolas Baert, the starting grid for Race 2 has been reshuffled. Thierry Vermeulen remains on pole, now joined on the front row by teammate Jack Aitken, who inherits the top Group B position. Baert’s removal promotes all remaining Group B drivers two places up the grid, adjusting the merged structure accordingly.

Arjun Maini (#36 HRT Ford Performance Ford Mustang GT3) lines up third, with Ben Green (#10 Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3) alongside in fourth. Row three features Maro Engel (#24 Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3) and Thomas Preining (#91 Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3 R). Ricardo Feller (#29 Land-Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3) and Ben Dörr (#25 Dörr Motorsport McLaren 720S GT3) occupy row four, while Jordan Pepper (#63 TGI Team Lamborghini by GRT Lamborghini Huracán GT3) and Ayhancan Güven (#90 Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3 R) complete the top ten.

Championship leader Lucas Auer continues to fly under the radar this weekend, placing 14th on the grid in the #22 Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Race 2 begins Sunday at 13:30 CEST, with high temperatures expected to reach 28 degrees Celsius during the race.
