The 2025 GT Cup championship arrives at Silverstone Circuit, the home of British motorsport, this weekend. This Sunday, we will see the return of the 100-minute endurance race, an added challenge for the teams as they race their way around the GP layout.
Going into this weekend’s GT Cup 100, Paddock Motorsport is at the top of the standings, narrowly ahead of Topcats Racing by six points. The championship leaders will be hoping to extend their advantage after a tricky start to the Snetterton weekend, where Mark Smith bounced back with two wins on Sunday. With the second half of the season now underway, every point will be crucial in this year’s title fight.
Also at Silverstone are the GB3 and GB4 championships, which are headlining this weekend’s event. There will also be the Radical Cup, the Porsche Club Championship, and the Boxster Cup competing this weekend.
At Silverstone last year, Paddock Motorsport dominated the weekend, taking wins in all three races of the weekend. Drivers Ian Loggie and Richard Neary in their Mercedes GT3 were no match for their competitors across the weekend. Looking at this season, the team could repeat their success.
Class standings
In the GTO standings, SB Race Engineering has a clear advantage over their other competitor, CTR Developments, with a 101-point advantage going into this weekend.
In the GT3 class, Mark Smith and Paddock Motorsport lead the way by 61 points over PB Racing. Track Focused are not far behind the runners-up spot, as they trail by just 11 points.
Title chasers Topcats Racing are dominating the GTC class, leading Triple M Motorsport by 77 points and the JHM Automotive Lamborghini by 127 points.
It’s a similar story in the GTB class, with a 75-point advantage for Uber GT Motorsport over their nearest rivals, Team PMT.
In the GTH standings it’s a bit closer at the top, with 56 points separating the top three. Feathers Motorsport leads the way with SVG Motorsport trailing by 49 points and Innovation Racing trailing by 56 points.
Finally in the GTA class, SVG Motorsport led the way with their BMW M4 GT4 entry. They lead by 57 points ahead of Innovation Racing.
New and Familiar faces at Silverstone
There will be some new and familiar faces competing this weekend, with experienced pro-driver Jamie Stanley replacing James Pickford in the 63 JHM Automotive Lamborghini in the GTC class. Pickford is absent due to other commitments, with Stanley partnering Frank Morris.
A new entry for Silverstone is Lone Wolf Racing, with drivers John Turner and Ray Grimes. The pair will be competing in the GTC class in their Ferrari 488 Challenge.
Innovation Racing welcomes esports world champion Luke Bennett this weekend, and he will be joining Simon Griffiths in the No. 30 Ginetta.
A familiar face in Dominic Paul will be substituting for regular driver Grahame Tilley at this weekend’s GT Cup 100. He will join Will Tregurtha in the Triple M Lamborghini.
Finally, Chris Valentine will race a second entry for Oselli at Silverstone. He will be competing in an Aston Martin GT4 in the GTA class. The full entry list can be found on the GT Cup website.
Rain is currently forecast for Sunday’s 100-minute endurance race, adding another layer of challenge for teams, and it could potentially open the door for some surprise results. All the action will be available to watch live on the GT Cup YouTube channel.
