Lamborghini announced earlier this week that the manufacturer will pause its SC63 LMDh program starting in 2026, citing a shift in focus toward the brand’s new Temerario GT3.
The SC63 has experienced a rocky road in just its second season of sportscar competition. The program departed from the World Endurance Championship (WEC) after only one full season in the FIA-run series. In IMSA, the team has competed in the series’ Michelin Endurance Cup rounds, with plans to contest the final two races this year at Indianapolis and Road Atlanta.
“The conditions on which the programme was based have significantly changed,” Lamborghini stated. “As the project developed, resource demands—both in terms of budget and technical complexity—have grown beyond original projections.”
Over one and a half seasons, the SC63 has seen two different teams manage its operations: Iron Lynx, a Lamborghini-affiliated stable, led the effort last season, with Riley taking over this year.
In fourteen starts across both series, the SC63’s best finish was 7th place, achieved in their most recent race at Watkins Glen.
While the future of the “Raging Bull’s” prototype program remains uncertain, rumors suggest the brand may discontinue the SC63’s racing efforts following this announcement.
