BMW locked out the front row in a partially wet Qualifying 1 at the Red Bull Ring. Marco Wittmann took pole with a time of 1m27.709sec, edging teammate René Rast by just 0.081s as Schubert Motorsport delivered a dominant performance.
Gilles Magnus put his Aston Martin third ahead of the Ferrari trio of Jack Aitken, Thierry Vermeulen, and Ben Green. Ben Dörr’s McLaren, Ricardo Feller’s Audi, and Maro Engel’s Mercedes-AMG followed, with Luca Engstler completing the top ten in his Lamborghini.
The grid could have a significant impact on the championship fight: leader Lucas Auer will start only 13th, while main rival Aitken is inside the top five and both Schubert BMW drivers, Rast and Wittmann, are perfectly placed to close the gap.

Race 1 gets underway this afternoon at 13:30 local time.
