Tomorrow marks the final race of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season at Road Atlanta — and the final chapter for several GTP teams.

Three GTP squads enter the weekend under very different circumstances. Team RLL and Lamborghini Squadra Corsa prepare for their IMSA farewells, with the SC63 program set to pause following 2025. Meanwhile, the Heart of Racing Team wraps up its first full campaign with the Valkyrie, highlighted by strong performances throughout the year.

Though their paths diverge after Saturday night, it promises to be a reflective and emotional finale for all involved.

Final Race for Rahal-Letterman Lannigan in IMSA

It’s the swan song race for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, as the team steps back from its role as BMW’s North American operator of the M Hybrid V8 following tomorrow’s finale.

While the past three seasons didn’t yield an IMSA championship, RLL’s BMW program earned several victories along the way — including a memorable win at Indianapolis last season. This year, the team showed strong pace early, claiming pole position in the first four races before breaking through with a win at Road America in August.

“Yeah, it will be special,” said Team RLL driver Dries Vanthoor. “Of course, it’s always sad when you’ve gotten to know people and then won’t see them again the next year, but that’s how our business works sometimes — and how life goes. It will definitely be an emotional weekend, and maybe there’s something extra added to it as well.”

SC63 Says Farwell

In only its second full season of competition, Lamborghini’s SC63 LMDh program will shut its doors at the end of this year, making its final IMSA start tomorrow.

The SC63 debuted at Sebring last season and has since competed in both WEC and IMSA under two separate team operations — Riley Motorsports and Iron Lynx.

While the car wasn’t able to reach the top in WEC this year, Lamborghini’s IMSA campaign showed flashes of potential and what might have been for the young program. Though operations are pausing, there remains a possibility the SC63 could return as early as 2027.

At Indianapolis, Lamborghini unveiled its pre-planned EVO jokers — updates designed to improve the car’s performance, independent of the program’s closure. It may be coincidence, but the move hints that the manufacturer still harbors aspirations of seeing its LMDh prototype return to the grid.

For now, however, the focus shifts toward the launch of Lamborghini’s new GT3 car next year.

Year One Complete for The Valkyrie

The Valkyrie became the first LMH program to compete in IMSA, and since its rollout during last year’s Daytona testing, the Heart of Racing-backed effort has shown rapid progress in developing this brand-new machine.

Across both WEC and IMSA, the Aston Martin Valkyrie has made its presence felt — not just with the scream of its V12 engine, but through strong, competitive performances.

In its most recent WEC outing at Fuji, the Valkyrie battled inside the Top 5 and came close to earning its first podium. Meanwhile, in IMSA, the team delivered an impressive run at Indianapolis, narrowly missing a Top 5 finish.

With a balanced lineup of experienced and emerging drivers, the Heart of Racing Team heads into 2026 with plenty of momentum — and even a chance to close out 2025 on a high note with its first podium finish tomorrow.
