A dramatic weekend saw two major GT championships crowned on opposite sides of the Asia-Pacific. In New Zealand, Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher powered the #888 Kelso Electrical Audi R8 LMS to the GT World Challenge Australia title after a tense showdown at Hampton Downs. Meanwhile in Japan, Sho Tsuboi and Kenta Yamashita made history at Motegi, guiding the #1 au TOM’S GR Supra to victory and securing an unprecedented third consecutive Super GT500 championship, as LEON Racing clinched the GT300 crown.
GT World Challenge Australia – Hampton Downs: Feeney and Schumacher Crowned Champions in Dramatic Hampton Downs finale
Race 1
Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher stormed back into title contention with a sensational victory in Saturday’s opening race. Starting from pole, Schumacher briefly lost the lead to Liam Talbot’s #23 Volante Rosso Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 before Feeney mounted a relentless comeback drive, overturning a 17-second deficit to win by five seconds.
Behind the #888 Audi, the Volante Rosso Aston Martin of Talbot and Josh Hunt settled for second, while Ryan Wood and Steve Brooks completed the podium in the #66 Wolfbrook/MPC Audi R8 LMS GT3. In Am Cup, Grant Donaldson and Darren Currie dominated in the #63 111 Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.
The result tightened the Pro-Am standings to just 15 points heading into the final race, keeping the title fight alive for the last day of the season.
Race 2
Feeney and Schumacher completed a perfect weekend on Sunday, winning Race 2 and securing the 2025 Pro-Am title in dramatic fashion. The pair appeared set for second place behind the #50 Arise Racing GT Ferrari 296 GT3 of Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte — until a post-race penalty for a restart infringement dropped the Ferrari to seventh and handed the championship to the Audi duo.
The ruling flipped the standings, crowning Feeney as an Australian GT champion for the first time and making Schumacher the first driver ever to claim all three GT Australia crowns: Trophy (2002), Am (2023), and now Pro-Am (2025).
Ryan Wood and Steve Brooks again finished second in the #66 Wolfbrook/MPC Audi R8 LMS GT3, with Jayden Ojeda and Paul Lucchitti taking third in the #4 Tigani Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3. In Am Cup, Donaldson and Currie completed their clean sweep in the #63 111 Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.
The 2026 GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS season begins at Phillip Island in March.
Super GT – Motegi: Historic triple title for Tsuboi and TOM’S at Motegi
The 2025 Super GT season ended in fittingly style at Motegi, where Sho Tsuboi and Kenta Yamashita powered the #1 au TOM’S GR Supra to victory, sealing both the race win and the GT500 championship title. The result made Tsuboi the first driver in Super GT history to win three consecutive titles, while Yamashita also claimed back-to-back crowns.
GT500
Starting from second on the grid, Tsuboi wasted no time seizing the lead from the #38 KeePer Cerumo GR Supra on the opening lap. From there, the defending champions controlled the pace, extending their margin before handing over to Yamashita on lap 23.
A bold no-tyre-stop strategy briefly put the #100 Stanley Civic Type R-GT of Naoki Yamamoto and Tadasuke Makino ahead, but as the stint wore on, the Honda’s grip faded and Yamashita reclaimed control. Despite late pressure from the #12 TRS Impul Z, the TOM’S driver held firm to take a commanding win — his third of the season.
After post-race inspection, the #12 car was disqualified, promoting the #23 Motul Autech Z to second and the #100 Honda to third in its final outing before retirement.
The result sealed a hat-trick of drivers’ titles for Tsuboi and consecutive crowns for Yamashita, confirming the #1 au TOM’S GR Supra as one of the most dominant packages in modern Super GT history.
GT300
The #5 Machsyaken Air Buster MC86 Mach Go of Yusuke Shiotsu and Iori Kimura delivered a storybook result at Motegi, taking the team’s first-ever win in 22 years. Starting second, Shiotsu ran a cautious opening stint before Kimura completed the race on a no-tyre-change strategy, nursing worn rubber to the chequered flag ahead of the #61 Subaru BRZ R&D Sport.
While the race victory went to Team Mach, the GT300 title belonged to the #65 LEON Pyramid Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Naoya Gamou and Togo Suganami, who finished sixth — enough to clinch the championship by a single point. It marked LEON Racing’s second GT300 title, following their 2018 triumph.

The FIA World Endurance Championship concludes its 2025 season this weekend with the 8 Hours of Bahrain, bringing an end to a landmark year that saw record Hypercar grids and fierce LMGT3 competition across eight rounds. The championship’s twilight finale at the Bahrain International Circuit will decide the final titles of the season under the desert lights.
